What We Teach |
|
WELCOME To The Vandalia Church of Christ |
|
The Bible Is God’s Word
The church that Christ established holds to the Bible as being God’s holy and inspired Word. At the Vandalia church of Christ, we recognize the Bible as our guide and our source of truth. We do not look to the traditions or writings of man to determine God’s will or to decide right from wrong. II Timothy 3:16-17 |

The New Testament Is Our Covenant For Today
While we see the Old Testament being written for our learning, we teach that upon Christ’s death, the New Testament became God’s covenant with mankind. We follow the teachings of the New Testament, allowing the Old Testament to lead us to Christ, to whom the law and the prophets of old had pointed. Colossians 2:14, Ephesians 2:14-15, Hebrews 9:11-22 |

Baptism is Essential For Salvation
With the New Testament as our guide, we find numerous accounts of men and women becoming Christians after the church was established on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). Here at Vandalia we baptize those who want to become members of Christ’s church, so that their sins may be washed away, just as it was done in the early church. Matthew 28:18-20, Acts 2:38, Acts 8:34-38, Acts 16:14-15, Acts 16:25-34, Romans 6:16, I Peter 3:21 |

The Lord’s Supper Is To Be Observed By Members Of Christ’s Church
Jesus instructed His disciples to take the bread and the fruit of the vine in recognition of His body and blood that was to be shed for the remission of our sins (Matthew 26:26-28). We find the early church observing this memorial upon the first day of the week (Acts 20:7). For these reasons, the Vandalia church of Christ observes the Lord’s Supper every Sunday in remembrance of Christ’s death. In doing so, we also rejoice in His victory over death and over our sins! |

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.”
II Timothy 3:16-17 NKJV |
